Las Alpujarras in early spring is a sight to behold. The hills are covered in purples, pinks and whites and the air is scented with the heady smell of blossom. The Sierra Nevada is still covered in snow and is an amazing backdrop for our days walking.

The holidays are five days long with three days guided walking and four nights in the excellent Alquiera de Morayma hotel. All food and transport provided.

The walks will be of a leisurley nature, to enjoy the scenery and give you the chance to appreciate this stunning area.

This is a two hotel walking holiday. Starting in the Poquiera gorge we make our way further east. Walking some of the classic trails along the way and walking some fabulous high level routes (above 3000m).
We also have a fabulous rest day, spending the day in Granada and the Alhambra.

This itinerary includes excellent hotel accommodation, breakfasts, dinners and lunches on walk days. It also includes airport transfers and transport throughout the week in Spain and professionally guided walks, as well as a day to Granada and the Alhambra.

The area of Las Alpujarras is the area between the high Sierra Nevada and the Mediterranean Sea and is one of the most diverse regions in Spain. The Sierra Nevada dominates the rich blue skies, whilst the Contraviesa Mountain range to the South separates Las Alpujarras from the sea. The area is rich in Moorish history and culture and full of wildlife and amazing scenery.

This itinerary has been designed for you to see some of the best bits of Las Alpujarras in a week, and is one of our most popular itineraries. We meander through the stunning Alpujarran valley starting in Capileira, which is high in the Poquiera Gorge in the West and amble our way East to Cadiar, ‘The Navel of La Alpujarra’, through the beautiful white washed villages and stunning valleys. You will stay in 4 different hotels in 4 fabulous locations within this trip, and your luggage will be sent on ahead of you, so only a day backpack is needed for the walks.

Las Alpujarras, Spain is the place of the Moors last stand, the area is still rich with their legacy. You can see it in the architecture, the food and most of all the scenery. They have carved terraces out of the hillsides, creating amazing landscapes and irrigated the land using waterways, making lush valleys still used for agriculture today.

This walking holiday has been created for walkers who want to walk that little bit longer and also do some high level walks. The itinerary includes Siete Lagunas (2900 m) and the 3000 metre ridge walk.

The Sierra Nevada extends through the regions of Almeria and Granada. It measures 78 km from east to west and is 30km in the west and 15km in the east. This is the highest massif in Europe after the Alps, with Mulhacen being the highest peak in mainland Spain at 3482 metres.

The diversity of this region, which ranges from 500 metres in the Las Alpujarras to over 3000 metres in the Sierra Nevada gives the walker a fantastic week of varying landscapes, wildlife and climate.

The week is catered for people who wish to have some challenging walks and to walk at a high altitude.

This itinerary is a high mountain walk from the village of Narila, in Las Alpujarras, up and over the Sierra Nevada Massif into Granada. Two great walks in Las Alpujaras before we start the 3 day expedition to Granada. We will be staying in Hotels and mountain refugios before getting to the historic city of Granada, where we will stay for two nights and visit the Alhambra.

The botanical biodiversity of the Sierra Nevada is of incalculable value. A census has charted 2100 plants. This amounts to almost 30% of the floral population of Spain. The area of las Alpujarras is vibrant in colour from April - June, whilst high up in the Sierra, the alpine plants are from May - July, with many of them being seen until the first snows.

Ibex Trex Wild Flower holiday is designed for people who wish to walk at a steady pace and have an interest and desire to learn about and explore this beautiful untouched region. The walks will be of a leisurely nature with frequent stops for the guide to show you and answer questions about some of the abundant wildflower and fauna. The maximum number of people in a group will be 8, in order to give you the full benefit of the tours and our guide’s knowledge.

The areas we have chosen to walk in are rich in wildlife and offer the walker an excellent chance to see fields of wildflower and amazing birds of prey. We will be walking in the beautiful valleys of Las Alpujarras and as high as the Sierra Nevada ridge, at 3000 meters to enable us to see and experience the full range of wild flower this amazing area has to offer.

The walks will be led by our enthusiastic expert and local wildlife guide, Gary Morrell. He will take you walking in his favourite areas of wildflower and wildlife. Guiding you through the various colourful scenery, answering your questions and keeping you entertained with his vast knowledge of all things living.
