Walking In Blossom
Las Alpujarras in early spring is a sight to behold. The hills are covered in purples, pinks and whites and the air is scented with the heady smell of blossom. The Sierra Nevada is still covered in snow and is an amazing backdrop for our days walking.
The holidays are five days long with three days guided walking and four nights in the excellent Alquiera de Morayma hotel. All food and transport provided.
The walks will be of a leisurley nature, to enjoy the scenery and give you the chance to appreciate this stunning area.
Day 1 Thursday
Pick up from airport of your choice (Almeria or Granada, Malaga is a 50 Euro surcharge)
Transfer to hotel and have welcome drinks, then evening dinner.
Day 2 Friday
Vineyards, Orchards and the Sierra Nevada 10 km 400m Descent
Transport to Barranco Obscuro vineyard, where we start our walk down the Contraviesa mountain range. Walking downhill all day we will pass through almond orchards in full bloom with snow capped Sierra Nevada as the backdrop. Walk back to the hotel.
Day 3 Saturday
The Grand canyon? and a quirky museum 12 km 200m Ascent 100m Descent
A beautiful walk from the hotel along a dry river bed passing through a steeply sided gorge, with grand canyonesque characteristics. We then take a path up from the river bed through some great blossom and wild flowers to the tiny village of Jorariator and to the great little Museo de Alpujarra, which will be opened especially for us. Transport back to hotel.
Day 4
Walk into the Campo 12km (16km extension) 100m Dscent 100m Descent
Walking from the hotel out into the surrounding countryside and visiting the whitewashed villages of Lobras and Timar on route. We have the opportunity to see Ibex on the crags and Golden Eagles in the air on this wilder walk.
