The Company:

Ibex Trex walking and wildlife holidays is a small company based in the largely unspoilt region of Las Alpujarras in Granada, Andalucia in Southern Spain.

Dan and Amy fell in love with this stunning region; the amazing scenery, the rugged walking and the diverse plant and wildlife and so, after visiting las Alpujarras, settled here in 2005. Ibex Trex Walking Holidays was then set up, in order for them to share this beautiful and mainly untouched area with like-minded walkers, and wildlife and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

We want you to enjoy an excellent holiday in this beautiful region of Spain, so we have worked very hard in building relationships with local hotels, that we have hand picked for our holidays, local food producers to give us the best locally sourced food for our excellent lunches and have intergrated into the local community, employing local Spanish guides when needed.

Dan Shaffrey:

  He has been pursuing walking since he was knee high to a grasshopper and became a canoe instructor at 18, which has followed with extensive walking and guiding experience in the UK, as well as in New Zealand, Thailand and Central America. He is now about to complete his U.K. accredited Mountain Leader course.

Amy Shaffrey:

Amy has worked as a Healthy Living Advisor, Youth Worker and Community Developer before becoming a mother and setting up Ibex Trex. She is a trained aromatherapist and masseuse and likes to relieve those aching muscles. Having greater experience with and enjoying steadier walking, she often leads the more local and gentle walks.
